The Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Foundation is a global youth program that aims to inspire and educate young people to make a positive difference for people, animals and the environment. The program was founded in 1991 by Dr. Jane Goodall, a renowned primatologist and conservationist, who met with a group of Tanzanian teenagers who wanted to solve problems in their community. The program now operates in nearly 100 countries and provides resources, training and support for schools, educators and youth organizations. The program follows a four-step model that encourages young people to identify and address issues that they care about, while developing compassionate leadership skills and values.
